Sisi Film Lab Kampala 2026 Participants.

Everyone has a different reason for joining a film training. Some want to learn new skills, others want to improve what they already know, and some are looking for an opportunity to turn their ideas into films.

In this blog, we introduce the participants of Sisi Film Lab Kampala, 2026 and share what motivated each of them to join the training and what they hope to gain from the experience.

Brian Mukuye.

My name is Brian Mukuye. Where I come from, we have beautiful stories. And people can’t pay us for just telling our stories. But those stories have not been told. And I feel one of us has to come forward and tell our stories better. That’s why I shoot boxing videos and photography voluntarily. I joined Sisi because I want to increase my skill set, so that we can tell our stories better.

Agatha Akullu

My name is Agatha Akullu. I am an author, a children’s literature enthusiast. I am a pastor, a poet, and so many other things in between there. I needed more just beyond writing. I’ve been doing poetry, I’ve been doing novels, but I just needed to enter films because I saw I’m a children’s writer, I needed to see how I can transition these books into actual film, and also how I can just break into different forms of creativity. I need to pursue this goal and I’m really ready for the challenge. I am excited to see where this will take me.

Joel Chadinga

My name is Joel Chadinga. I said to myself, this is now the right opportunity for me to come and learn and get skilled. When I go back to South Sudan, I need to bring back the company we had. We have the cameras. We have what it takes. We have the equipment. The problem is that we lack the skills and manpower. I believe when I’m equipped from Sisi, when I go back everything will be back. Secondly, most of the time, we hire the producers, mostly from Uganda and from Kenya but I believe with this training, I will be one of the best in my country. That’s my goal.

Namutenze Karen

My name is Karen. I studied culinary arts, and I got to know film from my sister, who introduced it to me and told me how it works and how it would increase more value into my culinary career. And hopefully by the end of this training, I will have learned something that will add on to my culinary career.

Olweny Edwin

My name is Edwin. I feel like this training is a steppingstone. I always say in a thousand miles, you start with one step. This came in at the right moment, and I have opened my mind to learn new things. Hopefully after this training, I hope to become one of the best filmmakers and venture more into the film industry and become one of the best editors or even scriptwriter. I want to become one of the best.

Ruth Nagudi

I am Ruth Nagudi, a visual storyteller with Women Lens Africa. I studied journalism and communication, but I found my passion in telling stories. I joined Sisi because I wanted to also be hands-on, to be able to control the narrative of whatever I am communicating, or whatever messages that is being passed. I realized that rather than being at the front, where I am the actor. I could be the director, or someone who writes the key message.

Akii Moses

My name is Akii Moses.  I am a cinematographer by profession.  I’ve always had a passion for storytelling and that has led me into exploring various aspects of creativity, various fields. I started in design, all the way to illustration work for mostly literature work. I’ve been into animation as well because I really like animation as a medium. I left my work to pursue the art of filmmaking full time because I wanted to stand out. I wanted to be the best. I mean, anything worth doing is worth doing well. So, yeah, I made that decision and that’s why I joined Sisi.

Irene Baguma

My name is Irene. When I was growing up, I used to like acting, but I never got that opportunity. Then I joined a group of actors called Dreamline and I began acting. Now I am here at Sisi because I’m hoping to improve on my screenwriting skills.

Solomon Ogwang

My name is Solomon. I am a musician. My music basically started in 2024. Last year I felt like I should get some experience in videography. And I felt like I should learn editing too so that one day the music industry cannot disturb me too much.

Sandra Aguti

My name is Sandra Aguti, and by profession, I’m a digital marketer. I feel like with film I’m going to be able to spread my wings. I really want to be a 360 individual. I really want to be so good at screenwriting, but then again, also have just enough knowledge about other film departments so that, not only will I be easy to work with, but then also understand what every other department entails.

Andrew Ochulang

My name is Andrew. I met so many friends that introduced me to people who were doing film in Tororo. I joined Sisi because I want to learn film and grow my company Giant Rock Films and help more people express their stories to the public. And I think it will also help many people to realize that life has another perspective.

Stefanie Nyangoma

My name is Stefanie. I’m going into the film industry because I love it. I have passion for it. I want to learn more and to become a producer, a script writer, and director. I have to become a pro.

Male Henry

I am Male Henry aka Apassmarley an award-winning documentary photographer and Photojournalist. I am drawn to Sisi Film Lab because I want to expand my visual storytelling into the moving image. The Lab’s emphasis on learning every department from screenwriting, directing, cinematography, sound to editing while producing actual short films is something I need to create my own short films and documentaries. I believe Sisi Film Lab will significantly strengthen and advance my career as a professional filmmaker.

We look forward to seeing how their experiences unfold throughout the training.
