I was inspired to join the film industry by watching Nigerian and Ghanaian movies from kibandas (shanty film halls) back then. I was admiring the way they did their thing because by then in Uganda it seemed impossible especially in Eastern Uganda where I grew up from.

The first Ugandan film I watched was by Mariam Ndagire in 2011, by then Uganda had also started making interesting movies. I picked interest and wanted to join the film industry, but I was a bird without connection!

One day an opportunity to join a film school came and I utilized it effectively. I joined Media Vision Academy in 2024 and started learning film. When internship came, I wanted to do it from Mbale, so a friend told me about Sisi Film Lab, I wasted no time in joining.

Sisi is aiding me fulfill my dreams, adding on the skills I acquired at Vision Media. I want to serve my country through making entertaining and educative films and thus it encourages me to become a good director, editor and sound recordist.

During my internship at Sisi Film Lab Mbale, chance came, and I was called in Kampala to do sound on the Sisi Film Lab Kampala student’s projects. So, there I was, working as a sound recordist on the first project, “Atemel” directed and written by a student Akwi Salome. Before shooting I went through a two-day practice to get myself acquainted with the zoom F6 since it was my first time using it.

During my stay, I was able to meet new friends, you can not do a film alone since it is a collective effort. I am excited for the next project and what this training is bringing. I take this opportunity to thank the entire team of Sisi for giving me and my fellow filmmakers such amazing opportunity to build our dreams.
